The Ecumenical Fire
During a recent ecumenical meeting, someone rushed in and shouted "The Building Is On Fire!"
The Methodists gathered in the corner and had a prayer meeting.
The Baptists cried, "Where is the water?"
The Presbyterians appointed a chairman who was to appoint a committee to look into the matter.
The Christian Scientists agreed amongst themselves that there was no fire.
The Lutherans, after debaing for a time, posted a notice declaring that fire is evil.
The Quakers praised God for the blessings that fire brings us.
The Jews posted a notice over the door so that the fire would pass them harmlessly.
The Catholics passed the plate one more time.
The Congregationalists and Unitarians shouted, "Every man for himself!" and
The Episcopalians formed a procession and marched out grandly.
